Constructing a Home Office
posted in business on
The home that I purchased contains three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Our intention was always to make sure that one of the extra bedrooms became my office - regardless of whether I'm working in an office building, telecommuting or working at my own business.
Now my idea of building an office is to throw a computer desk in a room and call it a day. Of course, I also thought my new home was in "move-in" condition when I bought it. Apparently off-white walls are a no-no in Woman Land. This weekend we bought paint for the two bathrooms (paint that matched the shower curtains), and once that was wrapped up, I needed to figure out what color I wanted to paint my office (mainly because this was the only room where I was allowed to make partial decisions by myself).
I didn't want a dull or relaxing color. I wanted to be able to get work done. Most greens, blues and greys were out of the question. I decided to look to my experience in the occult to find an amicable color that would stimulate my creativity and also have some symbolic significance.
Obviously, I lean towards Kabbalistic thought when it comes to occult correspondences, but luckily, most Western occult systems subscribe to the same general interrelatedness. Yellow signifies things like success, concentration, harmony and intuition, while orange signifies things like ambition, business and career goals. My better half gave me a color range from which I was allowed to choose (it might be my office, but I still have restrictions apparently), and I settled on a nice light color in-between yellow and orange.
We'll see how it feels once it's on the walls.
