Wasting the Weekend Away

posted in personal on

Things did not go as planned this weekend. I had missed the episode of Fringe on Thursday night (DVR'ing it), and didn't watch it later in the night like I normally do. I didn't watch it Friday either, but figured Saturday could be a day of television and comic books and I could get two blog posts done by the time everything was all finished.

The first problem I ran into was with Fringe. Although baseball was over and Fringe was back on the schedule, apparently the Comcast guide must not have updated. Without an update, the scheduled recording of Fringe never kicked on, causing me to miss the entire episode.

In addition to that particular travesty, between the DMV, birthday parties, and other such commitments, I didn't finish reading my comics until late into the night. Looked like Sunday was going to have to be the blog post review day. Only when Sunday rolled around, I woke up to an email from Taylor Ellwood asking me if I was performing an upgrade on my server.

The server was down.

I have a dedicated server purchased form GoDaddy, and over the three or so years that I've had it with them, my server has only gone down twice (including this time), and the previous time was for less than an hour.

This time was different. To spare you my grief, the server outage lasted nearly the entire day, and was filled with several emails and multiple phone calls. It was not a pleasant day... and no blog posts were written.

Hopefully today will be a different story. I'll try to get those comic book reviews up later in the afternoon, and I also recently purchased the new Motorola Droid, so I want to write about that as well - possibly later in the week.
